The commercial char fishery in Nain started a bit slow.
There are 5 char licensed fishermen landing char, which are saying the water is very dirty where they have their char nets out.
Deidi Kohlmeister is the Office Supervisor at the Nain Fish plant.
She says there are 11 plant workers employed.
From Tuesday, July 14 up to today a total of 820 pounds of char has been landed.
Kohlmeister added the fish plant started smoking char yesterday.
Meanwhile at the Makkovik Fish plant, the landings of the snow crab fishery is going quite well.
Angel Chaulk is the Office assistant.
She says to date from last week a total of 142, 000 pounds of crab have been landed.
Chaulk says there are 4 boats fishing, with one boat reached its quota already and left.
There are 36 plant workers employed and works on two shifts.
She added they have a new Production Plant Manager; Alfred Chaulk of Makkovik started his new position last week.
