TRHA Update

The Torngat Regional Housing Association is just about in completion with the new homes along the north coast communities.

William Lucy is the Coordinator for TRHA.

Lucy says here is a run down from each community.

Right now in Nain there will be 5 new homes built, it was originally 6 new homes but the 6th home won’t be until the paper work is completed because of the land survey.

There are two homes that need to get plastered and painted, and two are ready for plaster and paint and one home is ready for wiring.

In Hopedale there are 4 new homes, in three units they have windows and doors completed and they are now working on the siding on the other home, 2 homes are also ready for wiring.

And they are holding off housing repairs until spring.

He says in Makkovik there is one new home that is completed, they are still waiting for hydro to be hooked up.

And one bedroom is up to standards and the switch plates needs to be completed.

In the community of Postville they only did repair work and most of the work is now completed, they only need to complete shingles and the workers are now laid off for winter.

In Rigolet there are 3 new homes this year, all homes are now covered with windows, doors and sidings and two homes are ready for wiring and waiting for the electrician to complete 2 wiring in 2 homes.

Right now TRHA are focusing on the new homes that are being built and they will start on housing repairs in the spring.
