Mothers Day celebrations in Hopedale and Rigolet

This Sunday May 12, is a special day for all Mothers, in honoring the mother of the family, as well as motherhood and the influence of mothers in society.

We wanted information about the upcoming events planned for activities from the north coast.

Sybella Hunter is the Community Health Worker with DHSD in Hopedale.

Hunter says they will have supper at 5pm, Sunday May 12, at the Nanuk Centre.

They will be having soup, bread roles, and dessert.

She says there will also be a Mother’s Day Flower Bouquet Contest.

We also spoke with Connie Basto, who works at the Hopedale Safe House.

She says there will be Mother’s Day Bingo held tomorrow, Thursday, May 9, 2019.

Cards will be $21 cards and $5 Early Birds, no kids allowed, women only.

The cards will be selling from 6-7 pm and will start at 7:30; Refreshments will be served.

In Rigolet, Lisa Palliser Bennett is the Community Health Worker.

She says the DHSD is planning a Mother Day supper this Monday May 13, at the community Hall.

The supper is for all mothers, and will start at 5:30pm; on the menu they will serve Kabobs with rice and a salad.

They will have games and prize draws, and a Hat contest, hats can be made at home and they will be judged.

They are aiming for 50 mothers to come out and have a fun filled day.
