Today, April 26, 2019 marks Day five of this year’s Easter Games here in Nain.
The day started at 10am was Movie Day for ages 0-4 at the Jeremias Sillitt Community Centre.
There was another movie started at 1pm, playing “How to train your dragon 3” for ages 5-12. Popcorn, juice, pop, chips, and bars will be for sale.
At 7pm at the JSCC there will be Pool Tournament, open to both male and female players, $20 per player, and $10 for JHMS Students.
The 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes for the Pool Tournament will consist of $250, $150, and $75.
During the pool tournament there will also be the 1st Annual Martin R Jararuse Easter Dart Tournament for ages 16 yrs and up.
Each team must consist of 6 players, 3 men and 3 women, $10 a player, winners will get $80 per player for 1st, 2nd place will get $50 per player, and 3rd place will get $30 per player.
Tomorrow Saturday, April 27, starting at 10am will be Children’s Inuit Games.
At 1pm, will be Adult’s Ice Games. Anyone wanting to play must bring your own saw, axe, and chainsaw.
Depending on the ice conditions, there will also be skidoo races at the Nain Harbour at 1pm. All participants must wear a helmet.
According to the Recreation Department, the Target Shooting is re-scheduled to Saturday due to bad weather forecast for Sunday, April 28.
Starting at 5pm Recreation will be holding Giant Bingo with cards selling for $100 at the Nain Husky Centre, $200 games, and jackpot to go of $5000.
There will also be a Game #11 put in play, $10 per card, and winner takes 75% of earnings.
At 9pm at the Atsanik Lodge, the Flummies will be performing, $10 admission.
On Sunday, April 28 will be Community Breakfast at 9am at the JS followed by a Sliding Party outside the building. Hot chocolate and panitsiat will be served.
At 7pm will be Adults Evening Events at the Jeremias Sillitt Community Centre with the Dancing Motorcycle Rave Competition and points will be awarded for costume.
The prizes for the dance competition will consist of $300, $200, and $100.
And at the end of the night, you must be there to win a Mystery Door Prize Draw.
