The 39th Annual Dog team Race went ahead in Makkovik on March 30th.
Rachel Edmunds was one of the volunteers for the race.
She says there were 4 teams that participated in this race; 3 from Makkovik and 1 from Hopedale.
The 25km race started from Makkovik, to North head, crossing to Gull Island, and then back to Makkovik.
1st place of $1000 went to Perry Voisey from Makkovik
2nd place went to Herb Pijogge from Hopedale with a prize of $800
Buddy Morgan Winters from Makkovik came 3rd with a prize of $600
The best looking team went to Herb Pijogge and the most spirited driver went to Rex Voisey with a prize $52.
Edmunds adds that as of now, the next dog team race is supposed to be going to Rigolet where they were supposed to have it this past year.
