Pan Labrador Choir

The Pan Labrador Choir was held in Hopedale over the weekend from March 28th-31st, 2019.

Emma House is the music teacher at the Jens Haven Memorial School.

She says that this was her first Pan Labrador Choir and that 5 students attended the Pan Labrador Choir from Nain.

JHMS Choir members were Samantha Saksagiak, Chloe Blake, Josephine Jararuse, Keira Jararuse, and Hilary Merkuratsuk.

The concert was held at the Amos Comenius Memorial School Saturday evening.

The students made a Kilautik Drum; they played some Inuit games, and had a social plan for all the kids.

House says that Samantha Saksagiak also did throat singing with Shania Williams from Rigolet.

Kelly Walsh was leading the Choir, with Jennifer Hart a Vocalist Pianist.

House says there were 10 student’s from Hopedale, 6 students from Makkovik, 6 students from Rigolet, and 4 students from St. Johns. Mason Dicker was one of the students from St. Johns who is from Nain.

She adds the event was nonstop rehearsals, vocal technical’s, beautiful sounds, and a mini work shop with Natalie Jacque, teacher from Makkovik.

House says it was a great experience, and it was also a great turnout.
