The Nain Husky Center was not in operation since 2017 due to safety hazards.
The main reason for the sudden closure was the safety for the public.
The Nain Inuit Community Government was looking for recommendations for a short term funding.
Beni Ittulak is the Town Manager with the Nain Inuit Community Government.
The funding needed would get some of the issues resolved for the Husky center, such as electrical, water and heating issues to be fixed.
Ittulak says they put in a tender to get work done but it was disqualified.
She says next week an electrician will come in to do electrical work at the husky center.
Bleachers will need to be put in the next year during summer.
She says the arena should be back in operation in the 3rd week of January once the electrician is completed his work.
They will also be hiring an arena attendant and a Zamboni worker; they will be doing interviews soon.
NICG are still looking for solutions.
