Torngat Mountains Caribou Herd Meetings

Public meetings were started in regards to a proposed Listing of Torngat Mountains Caribou Herd under the Species at Risk Act as Endangered last month.

Paul Macdonald is a Wildlife Biologist from McGill University.

He says they met with the residents of Happy Valley-Goose Bay, and traveled to Rigolet and Postville a few weeks ago before the weather came down.

Macdonald says they will do the rest of their travelling only after Christmas to meet and hear from the public on what they would like to see or done in proposal of listing the caribou as endangered.

He added that they had a lot of feedback from the public in the three places they went, and there will be much more feedback once the meetings resume in North West River, Makkovik, Hopedale and Nain.
