Legalized Cannabis

Newfoundland and Labrador today, became the first jurisdiction in Canada where non medical cannabis is legal for recreational use.

Hundreds of people were lined up in St. Johns before midnight for the legalized cannabis sales in Canada.

In this province you must be at least 19 years old to purchase, consume or possess cannabis.

Cannabis is not permitted for use in public places or inside vehicles.

Of course driving while impaired remains a serious criminal offence with zero tolerance under provincial law for anyone under 22 just as with alcohol.

There is also zero tolerance for novice drivers and drivers of commercial motor vehicles.
