Coastal Community Enhancement Employment Program

The Inuit Community Governments in each of the North Coast communities had applied for and some has received funding to do the Community Enhancement Employment Program (CEEP).

OK Radio contacted each of the ICG’s.

In Rigolet, they will be having two processes of CEEP.

The first process will start on October 17, 2018 and the second will start on October 29.

The selected people will be doing craft work such as slipper making, mitt making, grass work, earrings, making purses and mukluks.

The program will see the selected people reach their 400 hours.

In Makkovik, they are still awaiting funding to do the CEEP.

In Hopedale, the ICG is still accepting applications and
their start date for CEEP should be October 15, 2018.

They will be constructing garbage boxes, painting the HICG, repairing the floating dock and a community clean up.

In Nain, the ICG is still awaiting approval from the province.

The projects they will be doing is renovations on the Fire Hall, constructing garbage boxes, Kamutik’s and helping the Moravian Church in whatever help they need.

OK Radio was unable to reach Postville ICG at this time, so will have more information when it becomes available.
