Status of Women Contest and Woman of the Year Award Deadline Extended

The Status of Women office with the Nunatsiavut Government (NG) has a contest running called “Because of her”.

This contest is open to all communities in Nunatsiavut.

October was Women’s History month, and NG Status of Women is sponsoring a contest to Honor Labrador Inuit Women.

You can submit stories, videos, and pictures about a Labrador Inuit Woman who has had a great influence on your life, helped shape you, and made you who you are.

Entries can be made on their Facebook page Nunatsiavut Government Status of Women, by fax, or by email to:

Charlotte Wolfrey, Status of Women Coordinator. Fax: (709)-947-3543, or email to charlotte.wolfrey@nunatsiavut.com.

All entries will be eligible for a prize draw.

There are three prizes for each community.

First prize is an iPad, with two smaller prizes for second and third.

You must be a Nunatsiavut beneficiary to enter; this is open for both women and men to enter.

The Status of Women has a nomination call for Inuit Woman of the Year award as well.

There are no set criteria for this award; it is open for anyone to nominate a Labrador Inuit woman who they feel deserves to be recognized as Inuit Woman of the Year 2017.

Applications are available at your local NG office, or contact Charlotte Wolfrey for a form at: charlotte.wolfrey@nunatsiavut.com, or call toll-free: 1-855-923-2368.

The deadline for the “Because of Her” contest and the Inuit Woman of the Year 2017 nominations is extended to December 29, 2017 before 4:30 pm.
