Rigolet Losing Money at Town-Owned Gas Station (Audio)

Rigolet says it’s paying more for bulk gas than it’s allowed to sell it for, causing the Labrador town to lose money at the gas station it runs.

Jack Shiwak is the AngajukKâk for the Rigolet Inuit Community Government.

He says the price is locked in for the winter at $1.34.9 per litre, while the town is paying $1.37.9 from the supplier, including HST.

Shwiak said heating oil “gets worse,” with Rigolet paying the supplier $1.36, including HST.

The PUB price is set at $1.03.53 with 13 per cent HST added on, which brings it up to $1.17.
