North Coast Community Freezer Update

OK Radio contacted the north coast communities about their community freezers.

In Hopedale, we spoke to Martha Winters- Abel, the Regional Coordinator for her community.

She says they have char, moose meat and corn cod in their community freezer.

Winters- Abel adds the freezer is open to anyone who would like wild meat.

And they are open from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday.

In Nain, Regina Dicker is the Coordinator for the Food Security Network for Newfoundland and Labrador.

She says they have seal meat and char in their freezer.

Dicker says the freezer opens from Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

We also contacted Shirley Goudie from Postville, the Town Manager for her community.

She says they have moose meat, char, cod fish and geese in their community freezer.

The freezer is also for everyone, and they are open from Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

We also tried to contact the Rigolet Inuit Community Government, but no one was available.
