Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women

Pauktuutit the National Inuit Women of Canada has released a statement stating that they have not been successful in getting an Inuk Commissioner for the National Inquiry on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women.

Pauktuutit’s recommendation on the scope, mandate and process clearly stated that they would like two Inuit commissioners, one woman and one man.

Rebecca Kudloo is the president for Pauktuutit.

Pauktuutit thought they had ensured that one of the five commissioners would be an Inuk woman, but Kudloo says that it is her understanding now that an Inuk woman will not be one of the five commissioners.

We hope to give you more information about the work that Pauktuutit has been doing on the National Inquiry in the near future.
