Hopedale Residents Charged with Bootlegging

On December 2, 2017, while conducting a separate investigation, Hopedale RCMP learned that two residents of Hopedale were bootlegging alcohol.

As a result, officers charged 28-year-old Amos Abel and 39-year-old Vanessa Gauntlett, both of Hopedale, with bootlegging alcohol in the community.

Abel was previously convicted and fined for bootlegging alcohol in September 2017.

Both Abel and Gauntlett are scheduled to appear in court in Hopedale on January 30, 2018.

The investigation is continuing, and anyone with any information in relation to bootlegging in the community is asked to please call the Hopedale RCMP at (709) 933-3820.
