JHMS Huskies Regional Volleyball Champions

The Jens Haven Memorial School (JHMS) Huskies were lucky to make it out to play in the Regional’s, or they wouldn’t have had a chance to go to the Provincials.

The other teams started their games on Friday, and the JHMS Huskies team had to play all of their games on Saturday, eight games in total, because of a weather delay.

They had the smallest team out of the four, and won all of their games.

This year’s JHMS Husky Volleyball team consists of Coach Julie Dicker, Chaperone Mary Dicker, and first timers for any Husky events Curtis Dicker, Tristan Denniston, and Shanon Holwell.

Regional rookies were Jeremy Holwell, Tyson Dicker, and Jacob Dicker.

Trevor Dicker went to the regional’s last year.

Their captain, James Dicker, who is the tallest of them all, along with Seth Dicker, leaves them in June, as this is their last year.

Lab City’s Menihek Eagles and the JHMS started off the day on Saturday November 18, 2017, with the JHMS Huskies taking both games, by the scores of 25-13 and 25-14.

The MMC Hawks of Goose Bay were the opponents for the second game, with a score of 25-12 for the first set, and 25-15 in the second set, for the JHMS Huskies.

They continued on with their third game of the day against the Sheshatshiu Eagles; the Huskies continued their roll with scores of 25-19 and 27-25.

They won all their games in the round robin to play Lab City in the finals.

The Huskies took the first game with a score of 25-23, and moved on to the second match, with the Huskies taking it again by a score of 25-23, bringing home the gold medal and regional banner.

The JHMS Huskies will be leaving for the Volleyball Provincials on November 30, 2017.
