This coming Saturday, November 11, is Remembrance Day.

In honour of that, the Jens Haven Memorial School held a Remembrance Day Commemoration today.

Two students did the introduction, and were the MC’s (Master of Ceremonies).

Gordon Obed then gave a prayer.

Jim Lyall, one of the Ordinary members for Nain, gave a speech on behalf of the Nunatsiavut Government.

AngajukKâk Joe Dicker gave a speech on behalf of the Nain Inuit Community Government.

Grade 8 Teacher Christine Nolan performed the Last Post on the trumpet.

Everyone paused for a minute of silence.

Then, an RCMP officer did the Act of Remembrance.

The Flanders Fields poem was recited by grade 5 students.

Students from each grade, accompanied by a Junior Canadian Ranger and a Canadian Ranger, did the pinning of the Poppies.

The 4 to 12 Choir then sang Amazing Grace.

Then the winners of the drawing and poetry contest were announced.

Everyone sang O’ Canada to end off the ceremony.

And everyone was dismissed in an orderly fashion.
