There are many stories about the days of going on Longliners.
Gordon Obed of Nain was once a crew member on the longliner, Nagvak.
He says he remembers all the places they had to go to where people were char fishing up north.
Obed says his captain on the Nagvak was the late Joshua Obed.
He says they would go up to places in the Saglek and Hebron areas to collect salted char in barrels.
He says there were times when they had to travel through the roughest times when there was sea on.
Obed says while remembering going through the capes with the sea on, he found the captains very smart in handling the longliners.
He mentioned the other longliner, Silver Star, where the late Jerry Sillett was the captain, and the late Paulus Maggo and their crew.
