Bell Aliant Upgrade Update

Randy Edmunds, MHA for Torngat Mountains, had this update from Bell Aliant on his Facebook status on Wednesday August 16, 2017 regarding the upgrade of the broadband internet on the North Coast:

The following is an update from Bell Aliant:

“We just re-opened the following communities for sales of basic 1.5 Mbps internet service:

Nain
Natuashish
Hopedale
Postville
Rigolet

We have a technical issue in Makkovik that we are still trying to work through. I don’t have a date yet for that community but will advise when I know the schedule.

So effectively, folks should be able to place orders for new service as of tomorrow.

We are also in the process of shipping fibre cable to the communities to place fibre between our central offices and the respective government buildings.

We will be starting in Nain and working southward. Our sales team will soon be in touch to discuss upgrades to bandwidth for some of your locations.”
