The first phase of construction of new homes has started in Nain.
William Lucy is the Coordinator for the Torngat Regional Housing Association (TRHA).
He says that they have a new contractor, D&J construction, who were awarded the contract to build the new houses here in Nain.
Work has been going on in Hopedale for the last month now; they are working on repairs that were left last year.
All of the material for the new houses was ordered in June.
Lucy says that they are waiting for materials for Postville, and waiting for the selections to be made in Makkovik.
In Rigolet, they are working on a home that was late getting started last year.
They have someone going in to do the wiring today.
