Internet and Long Distance Restored in Nain

Some Bell Aliant customers in Nain experienced an interruption in their internet and phone services this afternoon.

According to Bell Aliant technical support, at least one telephone pole suffered damage from an unspecified event, causing the outage.

Approximately 450 people were without internet access and long distance calling capabilities, including the OKalaKatiget Society.

A number of residents were unable to make or receive long distance calls, and some phones in town were even inaccessible by other local callers.

Internet and long distance calling were restored at the OK Society at approximately 4 pm this afternoon.

Bell Aliant has not responded to efforts to confirm that internet and long distance calling have been restored to the entire town of Nain at this time.

OK Radio will have more information on the interruption when it becomes available.
