Photo Exhibit on Display in Nain (Audio)

Andrea Procter, a researcher at Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN) with the Tradition and Transition Research Partnership, and Candace (Candy) Cochrane, a photographer, are holding a public photo exhibit in Nain, NL at the Nunatsiavut Government building.

They were also in Hopedale, NL for the photo exhibit before they came to Nain.

Cochrane came to Nain in 1970 and the mid-1980’s, and took photographs with Levi Nochasak.

Both Cochrane and Procter are going to make a book out of the photographs, in partnership with the Tradition and Transition project.

They would like people’s opinions of what should be in the book because they want the book to be a collaboration between Inuit and themselves.

They are also trying to identify people in the photographs, with the public’s help.

Their first exhibit took place last night from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

It is ongoing today from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

It will also be held on Monday, February 27, 2017 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
