Labrador Friendship Centre Update

The Labrador Friendship Centre in Happy Valley-Goose Bay is very busy this month.

Jennifer Elson-Hepler is the Executive Director for the centre.

She says there are all kinds of things going on in the centre, because it’s so close to Christmas.

Elson- Hepler says they will have the Seniors Christmas supper on December the 16th at the Royal Canadian Legion.

They will also hold a children’s Christmas party this Saturday.

The Food bank is busy as well.

The Urban Aboriginal Youth program has all kinds of activities going on.

And the Hostel kitchen is busy as usual.

Elson- Hepler says the Aboriginal Head Start program is planning Christmas events with the children over at the centre as well.

She says they got funding for the four units added to the housing in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, and that will happen in the new year.

Elson-Hepler adds there will be a Turkey drive on Friday, December the 9th at the CBC building from 6:30 to 8:30 am.

The turkey drive is being held in partnership with the CBC Labrador Morning show.

Those that can’t make it to the turkey drive this Friday morning can also drop off their turkeys at the Labrador Friendship Centre during business hours.
