NunatuKavut Community Council (NCC) President Todd Russell yesterday issued the following statement after a provincial announcement about a proposal for additional clearing of the Muskrat Falls reservoir:
“The information recently released by the provincial government provides us with very little detail on whether there will be a reduction in methylmercury contamination. Additional information is required before we can comment further.”
“On the matter of our Indigenous rights, we have seen no movement on the establishment of a land rights process for the southern Inuit.”
“Our on-the-ground action continues.”
