Swiss Family Attempts World Record Adventure: Part 2 (Audio)

It’s always nice to meet new people here in Nain.

Dario Schwoerer of Switzerland and his 11 year old daughter, Salina, came to our studio last week to tell us about their world record adventure.

They are attempting to visit all the world’s climates on their solar and wind powered sail boat.

Schwoerer says his family took 16 years to get to Nain.

He says that they have walked, biked and sailed on their journey.

Along the way, they have had five children in five different countries, including Salina, their oldest.

Their original goal was to go to the seven summits.

They have gone to six of the seven, and have yet to accomplish one more summit in Antarctica- Mount Vinson.

The summit of Mount Vinson measures 4, 897 metres, or 16,067 feet high.

Schwoerer says they sailed through the North West Passage to get here.

Salina says that she is overwhelmed with the beauty of the many places that she has gone to, especially here in Nain.
