RCMP Investigate Fatal House Fire in Happy Valley-Goose Bay

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Happy Valley-Goose Bay responded to a call of a fire at about 1:30 a.m. on July 24, 2016.

Upon arrival, one of the people living there advised the RCMP there was still another person inside the house.

RCMP and members of the Happy Valley-Goose Bay Fire Department entered the home, and were able to locate an 88 year old woman still inside the home and get her out.

However, attempts to revive her at the scene were unsuccessful.

RCMP said the cause of the fire is still under investigation, but they do consider it suspicious at this time.

The RCMP Forensic Identification Section is on the scene, and the RCMP Major Crime Unit is en route from Corner Brook to assist in the investigation.
