Canada Day Celebrations: Nain and Hopedale

Friday is Canada Day, and Nunatsiavut is celebrating Canada’s 149th birthday with pride.

In Nain, a fishing contest will start at 10:30 am and go until 3 pm.

A community parade starts at 1 pm, followed by some activities at the ball field for the community.

At 4 pm, there will be a community Barbecue sponsored by Vale.

Free hotdogs, hamburgers, Juice, pop, water, and a Vale promotional item for children will be available.

There will be a giant Radio Bingo at 8 pm.

The day will end with Fireworks at 11:30 pm.

A Volleyball Tournament (at 2 pm) and a Community Dance (from 7 to 9:30 pm) take place on Saturday.

A Pool Tournament goes on Sunday at 2 pm.

In Hopedale, they will raise the Canadian flag and sing O’ Canada at 9:30 am.

A parade follows at 10 am, and the rest of the day will be filled with family games.

A community BBQ and cake cutting take place at 12 pm.
