Nain Prom Wrap-Up

The Jens Haven Memorial School (JHMS) had their graduation prom this past weekend on May 21, 2016.

There were 14 graduates celebrating their prom day this year.

Their day started at 3 pm at the Moravian church for a graduation blessing, where Gordon Obed opened the service with an opening prayer after the Graduates’ entrance.

Prayers were read by the graduates and JHMS Vice-Principal Ms. Juanita Skanes; hymns were sung by the Nain Choir, and John Jararuse played the organ.

Following the service, the Graduation Ceremony took place at the Jens Haven Memorial School gym at 6 pm. The gymnasium was packed with the graduates, teachers and invited guests.

The Master of Ceremonies was JHMS Teacher Mr. Stefan Moores, who introduced the grads and read messages while the food was being served.

There were speeches from JHMS Principal Jacob Larkin, the graduates, and the guest speaker, Silpa Suarak.

Throughout the evening, there was a slideshow of memories of the grads, and fun awards; then it was time for the dances, for the prom king and queen, graduates and family, and graduates and dates.

The evening ended with photographs taken by family and friends.

The Cap and Gown ceremony for these graduates will take place on June 23, 2016.

The next Graduate prom for the north coast will be in Postville on May 27, and in Hopedale and Rigolet on May 28.
