New NFB Boxed Set Unikkausivut To be Released Soon

Labrador Inuit will soon have a whole new way to access their history and culture with Unikkausivut ― Nunatsiavut, a DVD boxed set of films from the National Film Board of Canada (NFB).

The latest chapter in the NFB’s landmark Inuit audiovisual legacy project Unikkausivut: Sharing Our Stories, was created by the NFB, in collaboration with the Nunatsiavut Government.

This six-film set is being released in part to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Labrador Inuit Lands Claims Agreement.

Unikkausivut ― Nunatsiavut will be available in schools throughout Nunatsiavut in the new year.

It will also be showcased in the new Illusuak Cultural Centre in Nain.

The announcement was made Friday, November 20th in Happy Valley-Goose Bay at the opening of the first-ever provincial indigenous arts symposium, To Light the Fire, with Nunatsiavut President Sarah Leo and NFB commissioner Claude Joli-Coeur in attendance.
