Thanksgiving in the North Coast Communities

Thanksgiving Day is this coming Sunday, October 12.

Most of the Moravian Churches on the North Coast communities are getting ready and organizing this special day’s events.

We spoke with Joan Andersen, one of the Chapel Servants in Makkovik.

She says a regular Church Service will be held on Sunday at 4pm.

Andersen says the residents can bring in what they harvested, or goods they baked.

All the donations will be displayed at the pulpit, or by the altar.

She says all donations received on Thanksgiving Day will be sold at the Community Hall on the next day, Monday.

Andersen says all the monies collected will go towards the Moravian Church operating fund.

She added Bishop Paul Graff of the Board of World Mission from Wisconson, USA will be in Makkovik on November 10th, in Hopedale November 11, in Nain November 12th, and in Happy Valley-Goose Bay after that.
