Minimum Wage Increase Effect Today

Effective today, the provincial minimum wage will increase by 25 cents to $10.50 per hour.

According to The Honourable Keith Hutchings, Minister Responsible for the Labour Relations Agency, “This increase in minimum by 25 cents to $10.50 per hour aligns Newfoundland and Labrador with other provinces throughout the country.

“The minimum wage has steadily increased from $6.00 in 2005 to today’s wage of $10.50.”

Since 2005, the provincial minimum wage has increased from $6.00 to $10.50 per hour, which represents a 75 per cent increase.
