The commercial char fishery is going well in Nain this week.
There are 7 commercial char licensed fisherpersons.
To date 15,187 pounds of char has been landed.
Deidi Kohlmiester is the Office Supervisor of the Nain Fishplant.
She says there are 23 plant workers processing char, as well as one person along with an assistant who is smoking fillets and bones.
Kohlmiester says 7,000 pounds of the smoked products will be sent out to the head office in Goose Bay.
There are whole frozen head on gutted char, smoked fillets, and bones, cod fillets, and crab claws for sale at the fishplant.
