Archeological Surveys (Audio)

Some archeological work has been taking place in the Rigolet area over the summer .

Jamie Brake is an archaeologist with Nunatsiavut Government in Nain.

He and his colleague, Michelle Davies just returned from a 10 day fieldtrip near Rigolet.

Other researchers were also there at that time.

William Fitzhugh who works out of Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC was there and supported them with their research vessel, Pitsiulak.

Brake says he will return to Nain and plans on doing more archeological work near Nain, Hopedale and OKak Bay this fall.

He plans to go back to one place to where Rawson MacMillan Subarctic Expedition Station was, and where he found the first old model snowmobile.

Brake says a mechanic is working on the old snowmobile of which there are some parts missing so they will use a metal detector to search for the parts.
