Canada Day Event Results

The Canada Day celebration in Nain was a success again this year.

The celebrations began with a community parade at 1 pm.

Various activities took place at the ball field.

And here are the results for the Canada Day events:

Kristie Holwell won the best decorated vehicle, Annie Solomon had the best decorated ATV, and Alexander Solomon won the prize for best decorated bike.

Kelly Edmunds won the prize for best decorated stroller, and Kim Voisey had the best decorated pet.

The Outrageously Dressed Person was Rene Dicker.

She won herself an IPod 5.

Crystal Sillitt won the cardboard boat race.

She also won an IPod 5.

The first place winners for the running relay race were Hunter Fox and Jimmy Merkuratsuk.

Second place went to Gustav Barbour and Jonathan Lidd, and Jobie Lidd and Sean Obed took third place.

In the fishing contest, Robert Harris caught the most fish, hauling in 37.

Anguti Harris landed the heaviest fish.

The fish weighed 8 lbs, and was 2 feet, 2 inches long.

The scavenger hunt was won by Mary Dicker and Miriam Lidd.

The second place winners were Liz Pijogge and Trina Reynolds.

Mary Tuglavina and Simone Kohlmeister captured third place.

The recreation department also held a Canada Day dance at the Nain arena.

Youth that attended the dance had a chance to win a few great prizes.

An Ipad Mini was won by Alicia Semigak, and Samuel Jararuse won a boy’s bike.

A girl’s bike was won by Betsy Lidd, and two $25 gift cards were given to Shanon Lidd and Tyriekah Semigak.
