Lyall Appointed NG Minister And Edmunds Appointed NG Speaker

Nunatsiavut President Sarah Leo is pleased to announce the appointment of Sean Lyall, an Ordinary Member for Nain, to the Nunatsiavut Executive Council.

Mr. Lyall will serve as Minister of Culture, Recreation and Tourism.

Mr. Lyall was sworn-in yesterday morning during a sitting of the Nunatsiavut Assembly.

Previous to his appointment, Mr. Lyall served as the Speaker of the Assembly.

He replaces Richard Pamak, who was removed from the Executive Council in April.

The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Darryl Shiwak, had served as Minister of Cultural, Recreation and Tourism in an acting capacity until Mr. Lyall’s appointment today.

“Mr. Lyall has been a strong and effective Speaker of the Assembly, and I am confident he will bring the same level of energy and enthusiasm to the Executive Council,” says President Leo.

Nunatsiavut President Sarah Leo is also pleased to announce the appointment of Tyler Edmunds, the Ordinary Member for Postville, as Speaker of the Nunatsiavut Assembly.

Mr. Edmunds was sworn-in as Speaker this morning during a sitting of the Assembly. He replaces Sean Lyall, an Ordinary Member for Nain, who was appointed Minister of Culture, Recreation and Tourism on Tuesday.

“I am confident that Mr. Edmunds will be an excellent Speaker of the Nunatsiavut Assembly,” says President Leo. “His youth and enthusiasm will bring a fresh approach to this important role, and his dedication and passion will be helpful in advancing the goals and interests of the Nunatsiavut Government and all Beneficiaries of the Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement.”
