Level One Beginners License Restrictions Reminder

Many people in Nain had the opportunity to get their Photo Identification (ID) card done recently, as well as the Level One Beginner’s written test.

The Nain Inuit Community Government has already offered the Level One written road test to residents and offered to get photo IDs done this week.

We spoke with Dasi Ikkusek, the Town Manager for NICG.

She says NICG offered these to the residents on Monday and Tuesday.

Ikkusek says 50 people did their written test and all have passed.

She says they hope to have this done for Nain residents again.

Just a friendly reminder to everyone who currently has their beginners Level One license, or have just recently got theirs: please remember to follow the Level One restrictions to make it safe for everyone in Nain, especially the children.

The Level One Restrictions are: When you pass your written test you will receive a level 1 license; this is a basic license that will allow you to start driving.

Some people call it a learner’s permit; you will have to hold this permit for at least 8 months if you take driver’s training, or a year if you do not.

While in the level 1 phase of your license, make sure that you are aware of the specific restrictions that apply to you.

You will need a licensed driver with 4 years of experience in the vehicle with you.

You will display a novice driver sign whenever you are driving, and cannot drive between midnight and 5 a.m.
