Grand Opening For Piguttuk Family Resource Centre

The Piguttuk Family Resource Centre in Nain will be having its grand opening next week in their new building.

Sandra Dicker is the Program Coordinator for the centre.

She says the new centre is located on 5 Commercial Road in the red building next to the Department of Health and Social Development building.

The Grand Opening ceremony will be held this Wednesday May 6, from 1:30 to 4 pm.

Dicker says during the open house, there will be a few words said before the opening prayer by officials.

Then the cutting of the ribbon will be done by the youngest baby in Nain, Avery Andersen, with the assistance of the Piguttuk staff.

Dicker says finger food will be available throughout the open house and everyone is welcome.

The centre will have a kitchen, a program room, an office, a playroom, a laundry room, and 2 bathrooms, one of which is wheelchair accessible.

The Piguttuk centre offers programs for families with children ages 0-6 years.

Dicker says she will start programming the next day after the grand opening on Thursday May 7.

She says each day of each program will have flexible hours within the day, as in whether a program is set for the morning or the afternoon.

Each program will only be 2 hours long, whether it’s in the mornings or afternoons.

They are still in the process of hiring someone else to work with Dicker as a facilitator.
Dicker says that they did have a job ad out for the Facilitator position, and the deadline was last Friday April 24.

Dicker adds she hopes to see a good turnout at the grand opening of the Piguttuk Family Resource Centre.
