Pamak Responds To NG Removal Of Ministerial Duties

Richard Pamak says he has done nothing wrong.

Pamak, Nunatsiavut Government Ordinary Member for Nain, was informed on Monday that he was relieved of his duties as Minister of Culture, Recreation, and Tourism by NG President Sarah Leo and First Minister Kate Mitchell.

According to a press release from Pamak yesterday, the decision to relieve him as Minister came as a “complete shock.”

Pamak says he has not committed or intentionally attempted to commit any act to defraud the Nunatsiavut Government.

Further, Pamak says all travel and travel expenses are approved by First Minister Mitchell, and any discrepancies in travel claims in his case were adjusted.

And appropriate action was taken to resolve the discrepancies.

Pamak claims he has not breached any Code of Conduct as an elected official.

Nor did he gain financially from his travel while conducting NG business.

Pamak states that President Leo and First Minister Mitchell informed him that they have lost confidence in his abilities as Minister as a result of his travel, and, in particular, travel claims.

He says, however, that his role and responsibilities as Minster were never questioned or raised by President Leo, First Minister Mitchell, or any other Executive Member of the Nunatsiavut Executive Council.

Pamak adds that he will continue to be a strong voice for his constituency.

And he looks to that constituency to have confidence in him as he continues to represent them as an Ordinary Member.
