Regional Drama Festival Very Entertaining

The Regional Drama Festival in Happy Valley Goose Bay has been very entertaining.

The festival is taking place this week at the Lawrence O’Brian Arts Centre.

Kathleen Hicks is the Manager at the Centre.

She says the Festival is going well.

Hicks says three entertaining comedies were performed last night.

Last night’s performers were from Menihek High School in Lab City, EG Lambert from Churchill Falls, and Mealy Mountain Collegiate from Happy-Valley Goose Bay.

Tonight’s performers are from Amos Comenious Memorial School in Hopedale, and Makkovik’s JC Erhardt.

The actors go on-stage at 7 pm.

Queen of Peace Middle School were also scheduled to take the stage tonight, but they are no longer performing at the Festival.

Tomorrow’s schedule, which also goes from 7 to 10 pm, includes the final drama performance of this years’ Festival, featuring actors from Jens Haven Memorial School in Nain.

That will be followed by open mic performances, while the judging for the Festival takes place.

The adjudicator for the Festival is Dorrie Brown of Moncton, New Brunswick, who was formerly a Drama teacher in Goose Bay, and also taught in Nain.

The Festival ends with the Awards ceremony tomorrow night.
