A 20 year old Nain man was scheduled to appear in court again today in Happy Valley-Goose Bay on numerous charges relating to alleged sexual offences.
According to the NL Provincial Court Docket, he is charged with multiple counts of assault, sexual assault, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, and failure to comply with condition of Undertaking or Recognizance.
As a result of his court appearances, the case against the accused has been adjourned, pending a bail hearing.
According to Corporal Rick Mills of the Happy Valley-Goose Bay RCMP, the investigation leading up to the arrest of the accused took about 2 months.
Mills says the crown will be arguing against releasing the accused on bail.
It’s not known at this time when the bail hearing will take place.
A publication ban on details of the investigation, including the accused and victim’s identities, remains in effect.
