Nain Man Arrested for Theft from Elderly Man

Yesterday, February 26th, at approximately 3:30 PM, Nain RCMP responded to a complaint that an elderly man from Nain confined to a wheelchair had been robbed by another man.

Sergeant Jonathan Kenny with the Nain RCMP detachment sent a press release to OKâlaKatiget.

Kenny says the elderly man was approached by a man looking for money.

When the elderly man offered to assist him, the man grabbed all the cash the elderly man had and fled.

A 50 year old man from Nain was arrested shortly after.

He is currently awaiting an appearance in Provincial Court for Charges of Theft and Breach of Probation.

Earlier in the afternoon, at approx 3:00 PM, Nain RCMP responded to a complaint of an Impaired Driver driving in town on snowmobile.

The RCMP were able to locate and arrest a 30 year old woman from Nain for Operating a Motor Vehicle While Impaired.

The woman will be appearing in Nain Provincial Court for charges of Impaired Operation at a later date.
