Dog Sledding Outing With DHSD

Nunatsiavut Department of Health and Social Development in Happy Valley Goose Bay are hosting a dog sledding outing for beneficiaries.

We spoke with Tuttu Hunter, the Community Health Worker with DHSD.

She says Scott Hudson will be assisting the dog sledding outings in February.

The outings will be held on the trails at Transmitter Road.

Hunter says right now they have 24 people listed to take part.

All seats are now filled, but they are still taking names for a waiting list.

Scott Hudson is known for breeding and running his own dog team for several years.

He runs his own dog team business called Northern Lights Dog Sledding.

Hunter says there will be 6 people per outing, but only 2 will be traveling by dog team at a time, and will be rotating their time on a kamotik box and a skidoo.

The dog sledding takes place on Saturday afternoons from 12-2 PM.

The outing dates are as follow: February 14th; February 21st, March 14th and March 28th.

Each outing will be 2 hours long.

Those who have signed up will be meeting at the Community Office.

If you are interested and want to put your name down for the waiting list, or want more information, you can contact Tuttu Hunter at 896-3396.
