Woman Charged For Harming a 17 Month Old Infant

A woman from Happy Valley Goose Bay has been charged with harming a 17-month old in her care.

The woman was babysitting the child.

The RCMP began its investigation on Jan. 24.

This was as a result of a report made by Child Youth and Family Services concerning injuries found on the child.

The child’s parents had contacted Child Youth and Family Services when they noticed their child was injured after being picked up from their babysitter’s.

RCMP arrested a 44-year old woman and charged her with one count of assault and one count of assault causing bodily harm.

She was released on several conditions pending her court appearance in Happy Valley-Goose Bay Provincial Court on April 7.

An RCMP spokesman said the name of the accused isn’t being released at this time, as she has yet to appear in court.
