DHSD Mitt-Making Workshop Update

Here is a quick update on the Department of Health and Social Development mitt-making workshop in Nain.
The DHSD will be holding a mitt-making workshop starting tomorrow, Wednesday January 28.
We spoke with Shirley Jararuse, the Community Health worker with DHSD.

This workshop is for adults and new learners who have never made a pair of mitts before.
Jararuse says this workshop will take place each Monday & Wednesday evening at the DHSD multipurpose room.
The workshop will be held from 6:30 to 8:30pm.
It will run for about 6 weeks, depending on when the mitts are completed.

Jararuse says they have 10 adults participating in the workshop.
The instructor will be Karrie Obed, and Jararuse will be assisting him.
Funding for this workshop came from the Nain DHSD.
It will also go toward buying materials.

Once each person has completed their mitts, they can keep them for their own use.
Jararuse adds because of a high demand for this workshop, DHSD plans to hold another one in the future.
